Immerse Yourself in Kumeyaay Culture: Celebrate ‘Community and Culture Day’

From June 14 to June 18, the 2nd Annual California State Parks Week will immerse visitors in a series of themed activities across parks throughout the state. As part of this exciting celebration, Old Town San Diego State Historic Park has something special in store. In addition to its regular museum offerings, the park is hosting two free events, including a unique “Community and Culture Day” in the Land of the First People. On a designated day during California State Parks Week, Old Town San Diego State Historic Park invites visitors to participate in “Community and Culture Day” in the Land of the First People. This event offers a fantastic opportunity to engage with Kumeyaay culture bearers, who will share traditional knowledge and insights about San Diego’s natural resources and Kumeyaay culture. During the event, guests are encouraged to explore the lipay~Tipai Kumeyaay Mut Niihepok, the Land of the First People outdoor exhibit.
