Mormon Battalion Commemoration in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park!

The march of the Mormon Battalion into San Diego in 1847, will be commemorated in an annual celebration Saturday, Jan. 30, at San Diego Old Town Historical Park, 4002 Wallace St.
Children and adults, alike, are invited to this free event, which re-enacts the Mormon Battalion’s arrival and historic contributions to San Diego. Thousands have found this to be a wonderful “living history” experience for the whole family.
Crafts and activities include historic displays, frontier games and music, a Battalion descendant booth, a Dutch oven competition, re-enactments, a real cannon and free tours.
Authentic songs, stories and music will entertain throughout the day. Also, don’t forget to head over to the Mormon Battalion Historic Site at 2510 Juan St. for gold panning!
