More information for Old Town San Diego Dia de los Muertos 2022 coming soon…

The annual Día de los Muertos will be celebrated in Old Town on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. This free event, which draws over 5,000 visitors, will include the traditional candlelight procession starting at sundown, beginning in front of the Immaculate Conception Church, located at San Diego Avenue and Twiggs Street. The procession will travel down San Diego Avenue to El Campo Santo Cemetery.

Many restaurants, businesses, museums, and shops will be creating traditional and contemporary Día de los Muertos ofrendas (altars). Unique ofrendas will honor historic Old Town figures, as well as more current stories. A public ofrenda will be set up in El Campo Santo where visitors are encouraged to add their own mementos, photos, and written tributes to loved ones.
